3 Simple Ways to Save Money on Interior Design

2/16/2023

3 Simple Ways to Save Money on Interior Design

Interior Designers had often the misconception that we are expensive. True. Interior Design is considered a luxury service and it is also often overlooked the importance it can provide for you.

Behind every well-designed space in hotels and restaurants, the chair or table you are comfortable dining at. Who do you think is behind those ideas that you came to see and experience? Isn't it the interior designer's creative work?

Let me tell you, you conceived interior designers to be luxury but in reality, they are like the Fashion Brands you buy,

Let's say you are buying a Bag and there is a lot of selection from local to international fashion brands. Your options are The Parisian to Hermes. by Selecting Hermes, You know their credentials and what projects they have under their belt, the number of experiences they had built their name and it doesn't mean they can't offer you a fraction of a service they are used to depending on which you prioritize to avail of.

It also doesn't make any less of the Parisian Brand. At the end of the day, We are talking about a functional bag that we are willing to pay for and enjoy the experience as we make use of it.

Here are a few ways Interior Designers can help you save money.

CONSULT AN INTERIOR DESIGNER

Contact an Interior Designer and straight away talk about your plans including the budgets as early on. In this way, both of you will save time guessing. Get to know them, the projects, and of course their credentials to help you align your selection process.

Do you find yourself telling your interior designer?

- We can talk about the budget later?

- How much is the price of this project?

- Do you think I will need this kind of work?

- I saw this in your tube and she spent this much only, Can you do this?

If you can relate, Here's my question to you. Did you give enough information to the interior designer on how you want your home would be? The things we did to consider your expectations needed to be met. Avail of their paid service where you talk deeper about the project requirements and inspect the site as well.

This will help you identify your requirements too. It will give you clarity. Then they can provide or recommend to you which service you needed.

CUT THE CLUTTER

Start working on your decluttering period. In this way, you are able to identify what matters most to you and what you are willing to keep before pursuing your interior design plans.

Purge as much as you need. Keep the ones that you want to repurpose or reuse items. You'll be surprised to know how much stuff you actually don't need and it could be someone else treasure.

Don't be afraid to combine new items and repurpose or reused items. It does feel good to know how old items can be repurposed into something better.

DO IT BY PHASE

Are you tight on a budget to spend more than Six to Seven Digits for your home all at once? Wherever budget or phase you are in your Financial Priorities for your home.

You must be upfront with the interior designer about how much you are willing to send, including your timeline. You don't have to be on a huge budget set your priorities straight and give a timeline.

I have this full interior design client who informed us ahead of time about their plans and how we can help them work this out. We end up having 3 phases for the project.

Meaning it will take us longer to complete and know when and what is expected to be delivered in a certain period.  We keep a healthy relationship for the project because it was all clear that things can't be done all at once rather than we are blindsided and caught off guard.

By knowing these 3 Simple ways to save money on Interior Designer, which among the 3 resonates more with you? Let us know what you think and How Interior Designers can help you with your Design Dilemma.

3. Declutter your Closet

Have you ever found yourself saying, "I've no dress to wear!", Come on you know that's a lie you tell yourself unless you really do have nothing to wear for the dress code written in the invitation (e-) card. This is the time you start purging your clothes, from Marie Kondo's teaching, "Does it spark joy to me?"

May those old clothes be found and used by someone who would love to wear them. Either you donate or sell them, your choice. Let someone feel the joy of your item.

4. Use the right Equipment and Products

There is a saying "Work Smart not Hard." We live in a hustle culture, in a rat race where time is always running out.  The quote in my opinion that At one point we have to work hard and then apply work smart. In order for us to work smart we got to have the knowledge and learn how to do things. From Katharina Joyce Watson, "You can't teach what you don't know and You can't lead where you want."

Learn to use equipment that can make your cleaning easier and know the product benefits that can offer you that you would like to use most importantly choose equipment that can last for multiple uses.

Things to Consider When Choosing Kitchen countertops

1/26/2023

Things to Consider When Choosing Kitchen countertops

Are you planning to renovate your kitchen model? If this is the case, choosing a countertop will be the most significant part of your remodeling. As it is the first thing you notice when you step into your kitchen.

Kitchen countertops experience a lot of pressure and occasionally require replacement. You may want to replace your countertop for a variety of reasons, including damage to the current one or simply yearning for something fresh. Whatever your reasons, there are several factors to consider before choosing a kitchen countertop.

Durability

The material's resistance to stains, scratches and general wear and tear is perhaps the most crucial factor to take into consideration when choosing a kitchen countertop. Granite countertops can withstand sharp knives and hot cookware, but laminate and solid surfaces cannot.

Tiles, on the other hand, can withstand heat and sharp objects, but if they chip, they must be replaced. Laminate is the most prone to scratches and burns, which are also the hardest to restore Due to the bare particle board core.

Another popular option among homeowners is soapstone countertops; however, they are prone to scratches and are difficult to repair. It is also rough, which may scratch your glassware and china.

Each material has its pros and cons. If you're remodeling your kitchen, you're probably going to change everything. In such cases, the weight of the new countertop material you select is critical. Concrete and granite worktops are both heavy, so they will require more support than other materials such as laminate. Paper composite countertops are lighter, more robust, and resistant to heat and water, making them ideal for busy kitchens.

Maintenance

To keep it spotless, your kitchen countertop will need routine maintenance. It's better not to select a countertop material for busy families that requires frequent sealing to stave against stains and water damage.

Granite countertops are appropriate for homeowners who don't mind performing periodic care, such as sealing them to maintain their longevity and attractiveness. However, they are well worth the investment due to their beauty and the fact that they raise the market value of your house.

As an alternative, you may use quartz countertops to completely do away with care needs. Although you won't likely obtain the same resale value, laminate countertops are another lovely and reasonably priced solution to maintain a modern or contemporary appearance while providing ease of maintenance.

Your budget

The cost of installing new kitchen countertops is the highest overall, followed by the cost of installing new cabinets. So, the first thing you need to do is get quotes for the different options.

Some surfaces are costly to purchase and maintain, but that does not make all of the less expensive ones ideal. Rather than focusing just on a budget, choose countertops that meet your specific requirements.

Materials like granite are relatively pricy but are worth purchasing because of the features of strength, durability, and heat resistance. It may be more expensive, but it may save you money in the long run.

However, if you choose a less expensive material, it may end up costing you more money over time if it needs frequent maintenance. Although granite and quartz are the most popular materials for kitchen countertops, there are many other options available on the market that can suit your preferences.

On the other hand, a less costly material may wind up costing you more money in the long term if it requires regular maintenance. The two most common materials for kitchen worktops are granite and quartz, but there are many more choices that might fit your preferences.

Aesthetics

The countertop's appearance is equally crucial to its usability. It must enhance the elegance of the home design as a whole. Marble is renowned for its wide range of hues and unmatched beauty. While artificial materials like solid surfaces, stainless steel, plastic laminates, and concrete offer a modern and stylish feeling, natural materials like stone and wood give your home a more rustic feel.

Every year, manufacturers of kitchen countertops design a wide variety of designs. You must choose a material that complements your kitchen's style and gives it an appealing appearance. A sleeker, more reflective stone might be a fantastic choice if you intend to design your kitchen with a modern aesthetic.

Health

Kitchens should always be clean and free of bacteria since contaminated food can cause disease. This is why people choose kitchen countertops that do not have grooves that might harbor bacteria and grime. As a result, some people shun tiles in favor of solid surfacing. Sealing concrete and granite countertops may help prevent this problem, but it is labor demanding and may be pricey for some individuals.

Are you having a hard time selecting a countertop and you wanted to know the things that you want to consider? It is an on-going pandemic and despite being precautions there is no way that we can see these bacteria or viruses in someways, we are able to identify them by knowing a few things before we select a countertop of our choice.

What is the best kitchen countertop to use?

1/12/2023

What is the best kitchen countertop to use?

If you’re planning on remodeling your kitchen or renovating your house, you’re probably asking yourself what is the best kitchen countertop to use. While the kitchen can be one of the hardest rooms in the house to remodel or renovate, it’s also one of the most important areas to get right from day one. So it’s worth doing your homework before you start tearing out old countertops and laying down new ones.

In this article, we’ll cover the best countertop materials so that you can make an informed decision on what will work best in your kitchen.

Granite

Granite countertops are the most well-known to homeowners and have been popular for decades. Although the material has received a poor reputation because of its starburst pattern, there are many advantages to using a natural stone like granite for your kitchen worktops, as the material is economical, heat and stain-resistant, and incredibly durable, and it can be an attractive choice when leaning on the side of simplicity.

Soapstone

Soapstone is a natural stone that has a smooth, silky feel and is usually dark gray. It has recently gained popularity as a substitute for granite. Soapstone is commonly seen in old homes but is also used as a countertop and sink material in modern houses as well. Soapstone develops an antique-like sheen over time, which can be very appealing for certain kitchen layouts.

Quartz

Quartz is a man-made surface that is exceptionally durable, low-maintenance, and tough. Quartz countertop, as opposed to natural stone counters, are non-porous (meaning it does not stain or scratch and do not require sealant).

Quartz countertops are made to seem like practically any other design, including natural textures and patterns. Slabs are available in various color variants and thicknesses, making them an attractive option for any house style.

Solid Surface

Solid surface countertops are made from alumina tri-hydrate, acrylic, epoxy, or polyester resins and pigments and are non-porous and low-maintenance. It is a low-cost countertop solution with a unified look and feels.

Solid surface countertops can resemble the appearance of granite, marble, and other naturally formed materials. Yet, they lack the depth of detail that actual stone does.

Wood/Butcher Block

A butcher block-style countertop may give any home a cozy, cottage-like feel. Wood counters are perfect for food preparation when properly sealed since they do not harbor harmful microorganisms on the surface.

Teak, acacia, cherry, and American walnut are just a few of the wood varieties that can accommodate different looks and feelings for your surface. Wood countertops are also frequently utilized in conjunction with other countertop surfaces to enhance the other designs in the room. Wood countertops in an all-white kitchen can add warmth while giving different colors and textures.

Ceramic Tile

Ceramic tile is long-lasting and easy to clean. It is far less expensive than natural stone, quartz, or solid-surface counters, especially for do-it-yourself.

Recent advancements in porcelain tile design provide far more design alternatives than ever, including tiles resembling wood, marble, or even leather or cork. Ceramic and porcelain tiles offer more design possibilities than any other tabletop material.

However, This is not something I would recommend even if you thought of using this as it's not aesthetically pleasing it is also best to invest a bit on your countertop for durability and its lifespan.

As an interior design practitioner, I have biases in terms of Material Selection because you deserve a good quality product that budget considerations were often considered upon selecting which materials are best suited. As much as I like to use Calcatta Marble and Onyx Stone which would be a hefty price to consider.
